AMPLIFY

VOICES

We elevate and amplify the voices and actions of anti-racism and mobility justice leaders. We seek out opportunities to use our influence in the bicycling and transportation arenas to support their critical work.

Through the use of Ride Spot, we are showcasing riders from different backgrounds, perspectives, and places. In addition, we’re using Ride Spot as a storytelling platform to highlight systemic racial injustice and identify how bikes can help address these issues.

We are collecting and sharing stories of bike riders from across the U.S. and highlighting them through our Keep Riding campaign.

We are committed to sharing more stories from the Better Bike Share Partnership (BBSP), a collaborative that focuses on increasing the access to and use of shared micro-mobility systems in low-income and minority communities. PeopleForBikes has been a partner of BBSP since its inception in 2014.

We know that the best bike advocates don’t always ride bikes. As such, we support diverse community-driven coalitions across the country that are dedicated to building stronger, safer, and healthier communities. This includes getting more people riding bikes more often and making bike riding better for everyone.

We acknowledge that for many Americans, bicycling remains completely out of reach due to persistent social, cultural, systemic, institutional, and physical barriers. It’s these barriers that a research team, led by Charles T. Brown of the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) at Rutgers University, set out to identify in a 10-city study funded by PeopleForBikes. In March 2021, we released the full, groundbreaking report, Where Do We Go From Here? Breaking Down Barriers to Bicycling in the U.S.

We are committed to giving underserved individuals the opportunity to attend our industry-leading Bicycle Leadership Conference through financial scholarships.
