​UPDATE

• We invited a diverse panel of leaders to our Virtual Bicycle Leadership Conference in April 2021 and dedicated an entire day of the event to discuss operationalizing diversity, equity and inclusion within the bike industry.​

​

• We created our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Subcommittee in February 2021 with the goal of helping members of the bike industry operationalize DEI initiatives within their own companies and the industry at large.

​

• During the last five months, we opened a space for subcommittee members to share their experiences and perspectives and best practices and identified our priorities: internal and external DEI education, hiring and retention, and authentic marketing and communications. With those priorities in mind, the group’s current objectives are:

  • Providing foundational support and a safe space for industry leaders to learn, listen and take action to make their companies and the industry more diverse, equitable and inclusive.

  • Facilitating peer learning and the exchange of successes and challenges of internal company DEI goals, policies and metrics.

  • Delivering a working repository of DEI resources for the industry to use and share.

  • Identifying ways for the industry to work collectively to get more people on bikes and build safe and comfortable places for everyone to ride and enjoy.
